Cincinnati Enquirer: Coronavirus in Ohio: State might release 38 prisoners of nearly 49,000 incarcerated

“No one is saying that taking this many people out of prison is going to open up a lot of space in our prisons,” DeWine said. “What we’re trying to do is be very careful.”

DeWine said he could consider releasing additional prisoners in the future. 

Dewine’s initial recommendation earned praise from two criminal justice groups, the Justice Action Network and Alliance for Safety and Justice, as well as calls for further action.
