Politico: Congress nowhere close to a coronavirus deal as unemployment spikes

Holly Harris, who leads a bipartisan criminal justice reform group called the Justice Action Network and hails from Kentucky, argues the Bluegrass State needs assistance by June 30 or it’s going to result in layoffs in state and local law enforcement. McConnell is up for reelection this year and makes delivering for his state a hallmark of his campaigns.

“I feel very confident that the leader is going to act in the best interests of Kentucky,” said Harris, a former official in the state GOP. “Yes, he has to address the needs and desires of his caucus. [But] Kentucky is his backyard. And state and local law enforcement is really struggling.”
