Tennessean: Poll shows 'incredible support' for criminal justice reform in Tennessee as Gov. Bill Lee starts effort

Ninety percent of Tennessee voters favor reducing prison time for non-violent offenders, the poll found. Eighty-five percent said judges, not money bail, should determine who can be released from jail before trial. Eighty-nine percent favored getting rid of mandatory-minimum sentences.

Leaders from the bipartisan Justice Action Network, the ACLU of Tennessee and the conservative group Right on Crime — which teamed up to announce the poll results — said the responses showed the time was right for reform in Tennessee.
