Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Senate panel gives unanimous support to probation bill

A Senate committee unanimously approved legislation Tuesday to make changes to Pennsylvania’s probation system, launching a new effort to implement part of a wide-ranging criminal justice reform agenda.

The bill will ensure minor violations don’t become a probation to prison revolving door, said Ms. Bartolotta.

The bill would help give offenders a second chance and sets guidelines for courts to consider with probation cases, said Mr. Williams.

The bill has the support of Gov. Tom Wolf, the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association, Justice Action Network and Commonwealth Foundation, Ms. Baker said.
